Main Street FBLA
The purpose of this project is to expose students to concepts necessary for success as a small business owner and local community member. Students will explore the economic history of their community and ways to make a brighter tomorrow for all members of their local community.
Goals
By participating in this state project, students will gain the following:
- Enhanced knowledge of subject matter
- Organizational and planning skills gained through the planning and development activities to support the project
- Greater confidence and public speaking skills by conducting presentations in front of school audiences
- Project management and evaluation skills
- Leadership skills developed through participation in all aspects of the project
- Improved written and oral communication skills
Activities
Activities for the project include:
- Partnership with local business/ organizations to create a positive working relationship
- Guest speakers, interviews, reports, and job shadowing experienced focused on local business
- Participation in the Local Community Resource Placemat Contest at Fall Motivational Rally
- Presentation to elementary or middle school students on the local community
Awards and Recognition
Chapter Recognition: All chapters earning at least 150 points will receive a State Project recognition ribbon at the State Leadership Conference.
Chapter of the Year Points: Ten percent of the total points earned on the state project will be used for the Chapter of the Year points up to a maximum of 30.
